Battle of the bands 1: Queen vs the Beatles who wins?

My take on it:
Queen vs the Beatles as instrumentalists:

Freddie Mercury vs John Lennon on piano: Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury vs John Lennon on guitar: Tie, they both were bad
Brian May vs George Harrison on guitar: Brian May, you never hear guitar in any of the Beatles songs
Paul McCartney vs John Deacon: John Deacon, you never hear bass in any of the Beatles songs
Roger Taylor vs Ringo Starr: Tie, you never hear either in any of their songs

Queen vs the Beatles in singing:
Freddie Mercury vs John Lennon: Freddie Mercury by miles
Brian May vs George Harrison: Close, but Brian May
Paul McCartney vs John Deacon: Paul McCartney by miles
Roger Taylor vs Ringo Starr: Close again, but Roger gets the edge. Ringo Wouldn’t be able to pull of "Im in love with my car"
Somebody provide me with a video of the Beatles that has John Lennon actually singing good with, McCartney, Harrison and Starr actually playing their instruments and then you can say that the Beatles have something on Queen.

I’d have to say Queen. Based on Live performances, The Beatles, yeah, they’re good, but with Queen, Freddie Mercury had that stage prescence that easily captivated his entire audience. If you’ve seen Queen from Live Aid 1985 or Wembley 1986 (both of which are on YouTube), then you know exactly what I’m talking about.
Also, there is the fact that I grew up around people who loved Queen, so I was always listening to Queen, whereas the Beatles, I never really got into them until a few years ago. For some reason, they just hadn’t appealed to me before then.

What you’re asking is almost impossible to answer.

They were both amazing bands and had their own style which cannot really be compared.

However, if I were to choose between the two I would say Queen.

They’ve had a greater impact on my life than the Beatles had. But that’s just my opinion.

The Beatles by a long shot. And George Harrison was the lead guitar/sitar/piano player. Paul McCartney played the bass.

Now what Freddie Mercury singing in the Beatles. >>> 9000

    Queen Queen Queen, by far!
The voices of McCartney and Lennon are nothing in front of Freddie’s voice, and Brian May, just kicks a**!

    The Beatles

If you can’t hear the guitar, bass and drumming in The Beatles’ songs then you’re probably deaf or close to being deaf.

"you never hear guitar in any of the Beatles songs" LOLWUT

Instrumental ability isn’t everything you know.

"Lennon is a genius, living in every pore" - Queen

Even though I listen to Queen more, I’d have to go with the Beatles, they seem more consistent, and this is coming from a Queen fan.

Don’t be such a goddamn objectivist. You can’t prove that Queen is better than the Beatles, even if they can play their instruments better and sing better. Do you want to hear my objective argument? The Beatles are better than Queen because they could write songs that didn’t all sound exactly alike. They were better than Queen because they were among the very first to write their own music. The Beatles are better than Queen because revolutionized rock n’ roll (and, please, rock wouldn’t be very different if Queen hadn’t existed). And, if I remember correctly, all the members of Queen have said at some point or another that they didn’t compare to the Beatles.

I can go on, and on, and on, but I’m not going to. It’s NOT OBJECTIVE as to why a band is better than another, MUSIC AND TASTE is COMPLETELY subjective.

Mercury vs. Lennon: Paul McCartney. Get your facts straight, Paul played the piano much more often than John.

Mercury vs. Lennon on guitar: John Lennon was a fabulous guitarist.
May vs. Harrison: George. All of Brian’s guitarwork sounded like George Harrison’s. Wait a minute, you can’t hear the guitar on any Beatles tracks? Ever heard ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ (which had Clapton on guitar, actually)? ‘Day Tripper’? ‘Revolution’?
McCartney vs. Deacon: Deacon. Great bassist, but Paul McCartney was more versatile. He played other instruments.
Taylor vs. Starr: Roger Taylor. He was a good drummer, but that’s the credit I give him. Ringo was an integral part of the group.

Mercury vs. Lennon: Mercury had a better range and a clearer voice, so…I choose him.
May vs. Harrison - Brian May’s voice is a lot more…comforting than George’s. Not as scratchy.
McCartney vs. Deacon: Deacon wasn’t much of a singer, so I choose Paul.
Taylor vs. Starr: Taylor’s a good singer, Ringo isn’t. Ringo is an okay singer, in my opinion, so I go with Taylor.

Haha this question makes me laugh especially with those that speak ill of The Beatles. The Beatles beat every and any band. Queen is up there but The Beatles top it all.

first of all,get your damn ears checked if you say you can’t hear drums, bass,or guitar in any beatles songs.

now as for your individual queen vs the beatles battles, here’s how i score them:

freddie vs john on the piano-tie

freddie vs john on the guitar-john because freddie wasn’t much of a guitar player, for proof of how much better a guitar player john was, listen to this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9hiZKvDbiRo,i offer this not only as proof that john was a better guitar player, but also that he was a pretty good singer too.not nearly as good as freddie,in fact i will concede that as a frontman, mercury was almost untouchable.

brian may vs george harrison on guitar-george and for proof i offer this:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ETO3YfDKEI4,i’d love to see brian may do that

mccartney vs deacon on the bass-mccartney by miles(although between paul and john entwhistle of the who,my choice is entwhistle).for proof i offer i want you(she’s so heavy):http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne6ZZTfiQAw,listen to the bass lines in this song, let’s see deacon do that, also i offer paperback writer:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ne6ZZTfiQAw,paul is playing what amounts to in this song lead bass

starr vs taylor on the drums-ringo and for proof i offer two of ringo’s finest drumming performances as a beatle:the first is rain:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TwSUlgJ0css&feature=related.the second is she said, she said from revolver:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ypk18I_BHu4

now if you say that you can’t hear the drums, bass,or guitar in any of those songs then you need a hearing test or something.

now for proof that the beatles actually did play their instruments live,i offer these, the first clip is i’m down from the beatles 1965 concert at shea stadium:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnxUOsLSYIo

the second video is day tripper from a 1966 performance in japan:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XHlP-hGUKg&feature=related

in fact the i want you(she’s so heavy) link also shows how good a singer john really was(not as good as freddie),as does this song also show how good a singer lennon was:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Imb4tYOk8GE,it’s revolution.

now again i will say that freddie was a better frontman than any of the beatles, but overall the beatles were the better band, after all if it wasn’t for the beatles making their promo clips in 1965-1966 and sending them off to tv stations to be aired, then queen would’ve never done their clip of bohemian rapshody in 1975.queen was good, but nowhere near as good as the beatles.sorry!
